KORG Module preview – A new piano & keyboard app is on the way

KORG has just recently announced their new iPad app called KORG Module. As seen in the teaser video below, this app is based all around the keys, with some acoustic piano, electric piano, keyboard and clav, alongside a "Multi" instrument which is a synth/strings/brass combo.

This standalone app by itself looks like it could hold its own against the likes of iElectric, iGrand and the keys from GarageBand. But, here's the kicker. The five modules will also be available as gadgets within KORG Gadget! I'm a huge fan of Gadget, and it's no hyperbole to say that it would be my one app to keep if I had to choose only one. To be able to use these sweet sounds within Gadget and its brilliant interface has me very excited for its release.

As they say in the commercials, "But wait! There's more!" Not only is KORG introducing the new KORG Module, but there will be two new Gadgets available for purchase within the Gadget app. This Expansion Sound Library includes the Synthogy Ivory Mobile Grand piano series, and the Wurley Electric Piano, which of course is a Wurlitzer-style piano. No idea on the price of these yet, however the size of the new gadgets are available. You're going to need some room, as the Synthogy expansion takes up 2 GB, and the Wurley only 120 MB. As these are sample-based, the size makes sense, but those of you with a 16 GB iPad may need to make some room first. One other note is that KORG Module requires iOS 8.1, so those of you still clinging on to iOS 7 won't be able to join the party.

Below are some SoundCloud demos of the new sounds:

No price has been shared yet about the new KORG Module app. The release date is also a bit of a mystery, as the website merely states "End of November 2014". You can keep an eye out at the KORG Module website, sign up for the KORG app newsletter, follow them on Facebook or Twitter, or just stay tuned to the iOS MARS Facebook page, where we will let you know when it's been released, and even provide an App Store link to buy the new app!
