Esspresso – The latest app from Klevgränd Produktion AB

Earlier this year, the developers at Klevgränd Produktion AB promised a new app each month this fall. Last month brought us Pressit, a multiband compressor. They are now 2-for-2, as they have just released Esspresso, a de-esser for iPad (also available for Windows and Mac's).

As is their way, this release also gives us another brilliant launch video.

Here's the details from the App Store description:

This audio effect is an advanced de-esser with an intuitive user interface. The uniqueness of Esspresso is that the detection frequency range isn’t coupled with the suppressors frequency range. That means you can listen to a specific frequency and compress another one, which is often what you’ll want from a professional de-esser. With a fast and accurate frequency response view, you will easily get full control over annoying S-sounds that ruin the mix.

Noteworthy features:

• Audiobus 2 compatible (works in iOS9)
• Inter app audio compatible (IAA)
• Detector sensitivity gain
• Visual reduction RMS
• Visual detector RMS
• Suppressor can work as allpass, bandpass and highpass
• Load / Save presets
• Documentation

Note! Esspresso consumes quite a bit of CPU power and iPad 4 or later is recommended.

As with all Klevgränd apps, Esspresso features a minimal, user-friendly interface with limited but useful controls. Keep in mind, this is an iPad-only app, and it is suggested that you have an iPad 4 or later to use. Of course it is Audiobus and IAA-compatible, and really small in size (2.4mb).

If you're doing a lot of vocals on your songs, this is the kind of app you'll want to have. I may be mistaken, but I am not aware of any other de-esser type apps on iOS today (maybe something in Auria?). And, since it's from Klevgränd, you know that it's quality. These guys have been consistently solid on all of their previous apps.

So, if you're spitting out sibilance all over your tracks, take a good look at Esspresso.
