Waay: Music theory that matters gets an update – Now universal!

Waay: Music theory that matters just got updated for iPhone today. This app, from developer Ten Kettles, is a great music theory app for both beginners and more experienced musicians. I did a review of the app when it launched for iPad (review here), and I really dig it. Here's a look at their promo video:

Waay provides video lessons and interactive exercises that move you right along on the path to learning music theory. You can do a little at a time, or set aside some quality time to really dig in. The app tracks your progress along the way, which helps you remember where you're at.

From the Press Release:

"Waay is available for $4.99 USD on the App Store. The first course (8 video lessons and 9
interactive exercises) is called "Melodies" and is included with purchase of the app. The
second course, “Chords,” answers questions such as “What chords sound good together?”
and is available as an in-app purchase. Additional courses are on the way."

I like Waay, because I've never really dedicated much time to learning music theory. And frankly, right now I'd rather be making music than learning about music. But Waay moves along at a great pace, and the app focuses on aspects of music theory that are practical for making music. It's not total geek knowledge, but info on how to better understand why some things sound better together. And now that it's available on the iPhone as well, you can learn music theory anywhere.
